A Catamaran Expert Comes Aboard
Colin MacRae knows catamarans. A New Zealander with over 15 years as a chief engineer on superyachts, Colin spent his life savings on a hurricane-damaged Lagoon 450 in the British Virgin Islands after Hurricane Irma and rebuilt her from the ground up. That project became Sailing Parlay Revival, now one of the world's most-followed sailing YouTube channels with over 400,000 subscribers. Many will also recognise Colin from Seasons 2 through 4 of Bravo's Below Deck Sailing Yacht.
Colin and his crew are currently working their way through Southeast Asia aboard Parlay, and last week he paid an unexpected visit to Adventure One at the marina in Malaysia. Despite being on crutches after rupturing his Achilles tendon in Bangkok days earlier, he hobbled down to the other end of the dock to see the AY60 for himself.
The Walkthrough
What followed was a walkthrough of the boat with Ray, covering the Cox Marine diesel outboards and their advantages for remote cruising, the ultralight carbon and e-glass composite construction, the beachability enabled by the shallow draft and forward bow steps, the 7,200W solar array powering silent nights at anchor across all cabins, and the 60kWh battery bank running the full hotel load without a generator.
Colin was particularly interested in the diesel outboard configuration, noting the practical benefits for Southeast Asian waters where unlit debris and fishing gear are constant hazards. The ability to stop, trim the engines up, and visually check the props is a genuine operational advantage that resonated with someone who has spent years navigating these waters on his own boat.
Thank You, Parlay Crew
A huge thank you to Colin, Jamie, and the whole Parlay Revival crew for coming aboard and taking the time to share the visit with their audience. The work they are doing on Parlay is a testament to what determination and real craft knowledge can achieve, and we are looking forward to following the next leg of their journey up to Phuket. Wishing Colin a speedy recovery from that Achilles and a smooth splash day.
See the AY60 at the International Multihull Show
The AY60 makes its world premiere at the International Multihull Show in La Grande Motte, France, from 22 to 26 April 2026, where it is also in contention for the Multihull of the Year award.
